Saturday’s the Big Day!!! April 25, 2008

Filed under: Dispatches — thelifeofemma @ 10:05 am

To my biggest fans,

Mommy and Daddy asked me to send y’all a note letting you know that we’re going to be uber busy this weekend getting moved into our new house in San Antonio. Mis padres, Uncle Q and Phil are busy loading a U-Haul and tomorrow, they’ll unload it. I get to stay with my grandparents, Abuelito and Omama Bubbe Alissa. And next weekend, I get to hang out with Honey and Papaw, who are coming to check out our new digs!

It’s going to be exciting, but the ‘rents say y’all need to bear with them while they get unpacked and get internet hooked up at the house. It could be several days, they say.

But come visit us soon! We’re in a great location — within walking distance of several great restaurants and other fun stuff!

Can’t wait to see y’all in Say Town!

Love,

Emma

I’M GONNA BE A SAY TOWN GIRL….. April 21, 2008

To all of my fans:

Mommy and Daddy just told me that my days in our South Austin apartment complex are numbered… On Saturday, we’re driving a U-Haul down to the Alamo City. I’m excited. We’re getting there in the middle of Fiesta. While I’ve never been to Fiesta before, I hear it’s an amazing thing. Parties every day. Parades. People walking around wearing satin sashes (why for???) and medals.

We don’t know where we’re going to live yet, but Daddy says he has a bead on a place, and Mommy says she likes the pictures she’s seen of it. They say, “Stay toooooooned” for more information.

Love yall!

Emma.

Warming up after a bath

From the look on her face, I know she’ll hate me for this one day…but she is just too cute!

Finally — more photos… April 6, 2008

As usual, Emma has had lots of visitors the past two weekends. We started off with Honey, who was in town for  conference. Then Charles and Erin Dennis, along with Charles’ mom, Amy, came to visit Miss Emma.

Then this weekend, the Sheltons came to see her. It wasn’t until I was just editing the photos that I noticed Dave somehow eluded the camera. Next time, next time. (You can see him at Aubrey Joy’s blog here.)

On Sunday, Emma’s grandparents came up from San Antonio for a quick visit.

Making the rounds… April 5, 2008

Last night, our old friends, the Sheltons, came to town for a visit. They’re on a driving tour of South and Central Texas, along with the Hill Country. They’d planned on staying in Austin, but the Texas Relays are going on this weekend, and  there wasn’t a single hotel room in all of the greater-Austin area. No kidding — Dave couldn’t even get a bed at the high-falutin’ Four Seasons.

About 7 p.m., they arrived at the apartment. In case you don’t know the Sheltons, click here to see them, but don’t forget to finish reading this post! I hadn’t seen Aubrey Joy in a while. And the last time I’d seen her, she was a wee little girl and didn’t like talking much. But oh how things have changed. She’s an absolutely precious 2 1/2-year-old with curly blonde locks. She’s talkative and curious. She explored in Berkeley’s kennel, offered me a six-pack of Miller Lite, and found things in our apartment I didn’t even know we had.

It wasn’t that long ago that Aubrey was the size of Emma. I remember holding her when she was about the same age, and it just seemed like a little bit ago. Now she’s running around, talking and joking. I guess it won’t be too long until Emma is in the same boat. It’s amazing how fast they grow up.

We’ll get some photos up later today…

Mea Culpa — the first of many…. April 3, 2008

Filed under: Dispatches — thelifeofemma @ 12:52 pm

Please forgive me, for it’s been more than a week since I last blogged about beautiful Miss Emma…

She’s doing wonderfully these days. Smiles are plentiful, and we think she’s even learning to laugh. Emma hasn’t quite figured out how to chuckle, but she’s starting to smile and make “ha” noises, to boot.

Her hair continues to lighten — and redden. She’s grown a couple inches, gained a few pounds. And she’s also a week into her new school. Though I’ve yet to make it to the child development center, Momma Cash reports her teachers are great and Emma seems to be happy there.

And — knock on wood — there’s been no horrendous ailments floating around her classroom yet…

If the weather is good this weekend, we’ll try to get out a bit and get some more photos posted of our little girl. It’s amazing how much her looks change from week to week.

And, again, I’m sorry for not posting more often. I’ll get better.. I promise!!!
