Making the rounds… April 5, 2008

Last night, our old friends, the Sheltons, came to town for a visit. They’re on a driving tour of South and Central Texas, along with the Hill Country. They’d planned on staying in Austin, but the Texas Relays are going on this weekend, and  there wasn’t a single hotel room in all of the greater-Austin area. No kidding — Dave couldn’t even get a bed at the high-falutin’ Four Seasons.

About 7 p.m., they arrived at the apartment. In case you don’t know the Sheltons, click here to see them, but don’t forget to finish reading this post! I hadn’t seen Aubrey Joy in a while. And the last time I’d seen her, she was a wee little girl and didn’t like talking much. But oh how things have changed. She’s an absolutely precious 2 1/2-year-old with curly blonde locks. She’s talkative and curious. She explored in Berkeley’s kennel, offered me a six-pack of Miller Lite, and found things in our apartment I didn’t even know we had.

It wasn’t that long ago that Aubrey was the size of Emma. I remember holding her when she was about the same age, and it just seemed like a little bit ago. Now she’s running around, talking and joking. I guess it won’t be too long until Emma is in the same boat. It’s amazing how fast they grow up.

We’ll get some photos up later today…
