It is truly amazing and brings tears to my eyes to see her. Tears of joy, not sadness. The only sadness is not getting to all of you all the time. Beautiful pictures! You probably already have this all figured out, but for what it’s worth, I could not have gotten through those early “sad” days with my baby without my adjustable pouch. Whenever she would get fussy, I would put her in the pouch and walk around the house and she would quiet down pretty quickly. I think being held close combined with the movement helped her. And eventually she grew out of it too. Thank god.

A fine line, indeed.

I took Lane to the doctor for what my day care provider and myself thought was ringworm. It was actually eczema and henceforth ensued lots of clothes re-washing and forever buying unscented, no-dye lotions/shampoo/body wash. Bottom line: you’ll do just about anything for your kid, including taking them to the doctor for what turns out to be nothing.

Mark’s and my favorite “new parent” and “poop” story was about Sam’s rumbles during a trip to the California coast. When we were sure he was done — after all, he was four months old, so we had the hang of this — we pulled over and commenced the diaper changing drill. As Mark pulled down what was supposed to be the dirty diaper, it was clean as a whistle. Except for one little drop of that mustard-colored stuff dangling on the left cheek. We looked at each other, and hollered “oh no!” Mark pulled the nappy back up, but not in time. We cleaned poop off ourselve and our brand-new Subaru sedan for a very long time.

My gramma on my dad’s side HATED being called Gramma. Thought she was too “young” to be fitted with such a name. So we all called her Nana (nah-nuh) or Mimi (mee-mee).
